Howard Tate - Get it while you can

Back in those days, 1967/8? i remember reading in Blue & Soul magazine, that this was the best soul record ever! I loved it and played it all the time. Then i lost it whilst cycling over the local golf links!

@xena224 @jdector53 Its truly a shame that Janis Joplin is trivialized here as a junkie and that Howard Tate's rendering of this beatuiful song is dragged into a random tossing of the race card. Jerry Ragovoy, the writer of this song and a Jew, passed away earlier this year, in July if I'm not mistaken. To both of you, please find some peace and a means of reconciling your own demons without dragging hate out into public view. You could even start where this all began and listen to the song.

Locating Howard Tate back in my radio days (1997-2002) and seeing him and Jerry Ragovoy hook up again was the pinnacle of my "career" in showbiz..... funny thing about it it was that after everything got going, CD came out, Grammy nomination and all that, I figured out that I;d never pull off anything like that in the entertainment biz ever again, so I closed that chapter and wen;t on to do other things. There's probably a great soul record in that somewhere, but I;m no songwriter!
