  • Yes,you need to find the right type of memory form your computer.

The best way to do so is the motherboard manual that came with the board.

Or you can go to the support side of the site of the manufacturer of the PC like Dell or Gateway. Look for the technical Specs for the computer. The TYPE AND MAX RAM SIZE WILL BE LISTED FOR YOUR PC.

Hope this is what the comment was referring too.

  • I recently tried to upgrade(add) more memory to my Inspiron 560 desktop and after I was finished the computer lit up but nothing else. The light came on but nothing would load and the processor light didn;t do anything(black screen on my monitor)It supposily is Dell certified for my computer but the computer only worked again after I took the chip back out. What did I do wrong?Thank you.

  • Wow original ddr memory

  • nice western accent lol, no offence though

btw im thinking of getting a 1gb upgrade for my Gigabyte GA-73VM-S2 , and i want to ask will i have to format after adding memory or do some setup of some sort??

  • Thanks very much. Answered the specific question I needed answering!

  • alright i added a 256mb to my pc and the screen was blank as the other comment but i smelled smoke and i unplugged it. the RAM had burned marks. so i got another one. could it have been that i added it the wrong way???
