Are health insurance companies generally being fair and honest when they reject claims from policy holders?

That would seem to be an important question in deciding how best to fix the U.S. health system. But it hasnt been a focus of the raging health-care debate -- possibly because the answer is not publicly available.

This is one of the dark corners of the black box that is private health insurance, said Karen Pollitz, a professor at the Georgetown University Health Policy Institute.

  • I wonder if Dick Cheney would have gotten all of his heart surgeries if he was a private citizen? With his pre-existing condition he would have been DENIED! But nope my tax dollars pay for HIS health care and ALL the health care for ALL the politicians, but we the people suffer while they sit and laugh at us. Think about that the next time you get a bill from your insurance company. Greed is awful, and we are the victims. STOP THE REPUBLIACNS and TRUMP FROM REPEALING THE PUBLIC OPTION!

  • @dfwtexxaas so after listening to a 1:23 second clip you are sold on the idea? People like you are the problem in this country. You just suck up the first thing you hear and spit it back out like its your religion

  • Seems like we have a panel of dignified, well-dressed murderers. none going to jail or ever will be accountable. Makes ya proud to be an american, don't it?

  • I wish the single payer plan could be adopted state by state, rather than all at once. Come on america, you are a republic, not a democracy.

  • No, you're entirely off. If we can ignore these people, you can ignore many others and they can ignore you as well. Humanity is not a line or some lines we draw. Progression and understanding reflect our intelligence. Don't just attending schools to learn drawing lines everywhere, British civilization's going down hill because someone poisoned their minds with the drawing lines philosophy. Their industries stuck after too many rigid lines are drawn by some lost souls.

  • What we need and what would work is a Single Payer Health system. Look up "Mad as Hell Doctors" for single payer health care. Many people will not qualify for the "public option." (many working people)

  • And how do you think these "problems" are handled with the Health care system as it is today?

  • I would be for a single payer system under the following conditions:

    1) If you are an illegal immigrant, you will be stabilized and sent home.

    2) If you fail a drug test, you get kicked out immediately, even if in need of surgery.

    3) If you are over 400lbs, unless you are at least 7ft tall. If you can't loose weight being that large, you are screwed anyhow.

    4) If you are on meds, take them. Diabetic comas should not be due to lack of taking pills or shots, etc...

  • After listening to this, how can anybody support the Republicans. This is exactly why we need a public option.

  • insurance companies are scum

    especially AIG

May God damn them all and smoke from their torment be seen forever and ever
