  • fantastic organ and great arrangement by Albert Decap.

I have always loved Decap organs from both the Herentals and Antwerp families.

I have never been able ask anyone, on the large Decap organs the this one, what are the large pipes at each end of the organ? and are they for accompaniment or bass?

  • @IanPostlethwaite

The register of large pipes on each side of the organ is called "Cello", sometimes also referred to as "Cello-Grave". When this register is selected, it plays the counter melody of the standard 105 decap-antwerp scale - so NOT the bass nor the accompaniment. The two registers of small pipes in the center of the organ are called the Jazz-Flute (front-row) and the Vibratone (back row) and when selected, these play the melody.
