I was on the Kop that night. I was only a kid at the time and I used to perch on the left hand side metal upright pillar (as you look at the Kop) at every game. Very uncomfortable to be 10 foot off the ground, have your feet stuck at a 45 degree angle and to feel the need to hang on as though your life depended on it for a couple of hours.

There must have been around 30,000 on the Kop that night. Davey Fairclough was an old mate of mine from the area where we lived. Did you realise you'd become an Anfield legend when you scored that goal, Davey? I do miss the good old days! Is it any wonder now that the old Kop has gone the atmosphere could never be the same except for important matches?

It's not just about the Kop these days though, the whole ground needs to be up for it to create a cracking atmosphere. But that can still happen when it's called for. I'm sure the Anfield regulars of today appreciate that they have a lot to live up to.

I am a lfc-fan since I was a little boy from former DDR. It sent shivers down my spine when I saw the spot. Amazing unique English atmosphere!! It was a glorious time, wasn't it? I always put my "KOP" badge with pleasure. YNWA! Shit German soccer!!!!

@joshcfc8 These days its all fucking drums and microphones, is that atmosphere? I prefer the English atmosphere because there is not a single team where the supporters use that shit. Here in Holland, even the scum (Ajax, capacity 50000) needs drums to create some noise.
Bring back the old days, the days where the fans were the most important thing to the club and the days where there still was atmosphere, passion in the stands and cheap tickets, and the players played for their club not for their fucking pay check...
Against mod€rn football.

I was in the kop that night. when Davy Fairclough put the 3rd in we all jumped up and one of me shoes came off...never saw it again. what a night. The roof physically moved up a few inches with the sheer power of the Kop. Happy days.
