  • I think the ending of this song is one of those beautiful things that only music people like. The is only conveyed by the subtle piano chords if you're paying 100% attention to the song.

From the delayed response in the applause, I get the feeling that most of the audience zoned out and didn't realize the song had ended.

Oh well, at least we enjoyed it, whether or not most of the audience clued in.

  • @iravendarknessi I agree. It's kinda nice to hear it not completely dragged down for once, though. But still, a little too rushed to convey the depth.

  • @dillonkhoops Very much like when my All state choir performed :) Leave everyone hanging on the edge of their seats!!!!

  • Outstanding

  • This is an excellent performance of this piece. The women have lovely blend, balance between parts, and intonation. The tempo feels a bit rushed for the emotion conveyed by the melody and text. A slower tempo and possibly more rubato would help to enhance the sense of longing conveyed in the text.

  • @0912rawr seconded on the counting bit.

I think the conductor was just really enjoying the fermata on the end of the score. :)

  • I sang this song as a part of the Texas All-District Choir. It is a gorgeous song. I hated counting it though.

  • NWA washington jr. high choir will sing this song for compitition at worlds of fun :)

  • @ss74656 really? i think it may be the difference of a male or a female conducting. my high school director was male, and i had Dr. Reed for Maryland All State in 2010. When I sang this, we took it this speed, or maybe even a little faster.

  • @dillonkhoops i think they were so stunned by the performance they didnt even realize they werent clapping. this is a great performance and a great piece.
