For all you protestants that I know are going to be itching to point out that Jesus isn't claimed to be god in the bible, I've included this passage just for you:

John chapter 1 verse 1:

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Isn't Jesus the word of god? Er... I mean god?

A bit more complex than that: God created Adam, and gave him instructions. Adam defiled the purity of his creation by disobeying God and choosing the temptations of Satan, the world and the flesh instead, demonstrating the very nature of man to this day. Gods first commandment is to love Him with all our hearts, if we do this His will for us will follow, and His spirit communes with ours-that is our proof of Him, and why He made us.

So, why did god make us? If god was eternally happy, with nothing to prove, was not lonely, and did not need to be entertained, it seems quite cruel to bring beings into existence, put them to a test, then if they fail to pass that test, place them in a place which will sustainn their eternal torment for not loving him. Yeah, this seems aweful.

@MuscalityInObscurity: Unfortunately, there are many people who are so narrow-minded, they cannot accept that any person doesn't actually think and feel the way they do. The type of response you mentioned is completely counter-intellectual: it shows that such a person either cannot consider a position that differs from their own, or that their own position is indefensible, so they resort to such a childish tactic. It's a total conversation stopper.

@iverenabwa Interesting. Didn't god know in advance that Adam and Eve would disobey him? Doesn't he know everything? Why did they need to disobey him to reveal the "true nature of man"? Didn't god know what the nature of man was? Didn't god make us the way we are? Did he make a mistake when he made us?
