A visit to the area of the Cherokee Ruby Mine where the gem dirt is dug and put in buckets for guests to clean on the flume line... it comes from a gravel layer about five feet deep in the ground. The Cherokee Mine is a completely native operation so this dirt goes straight there and is never "salted" with stuff from other areas; you know what you find is native and you have a shot at finding some incredible stuff.
