Bhushan Kulkarni came to Ann Arbor in the summer of 1988 for a summer internship with Ford Motor Company, and he never left. Kulkarni established GDI Infotech, Inc. in 1993, a decision dictated by his appreciation of the city's quality of life, arts and cultural diversity, and wealth of family-centered activities. Now the information integration services and solutions firm has launched a new solutions division. This division is offering new solutions and products for breaking down information silos, building Solid Data Foundation and providing Business Intelligence reports. The project is expected to create 233 new jobs, including 121 directly by GDI. A state tax credit valued at $1.5 million over seven years helped to win the project over a competing site in North Carolina. GDI expects to acquire a lot adjacent to its existing operation on Varsity Drive with plans to invest $1.9 million in an expansion in 2011.
