LYRICS:

Yum-Yum:

The sun, whose rays
Are all ablaze
With ever-living glory,
Does not deny
His majesty —
He scorns to tell a story!
He don't exclaim,
"I blush for shame,
So kindly be indulgent."
But, fierce and bold,
In fiery gold,
He glories all effulgent!

I mean to rule the earth,
As he the sky —
We really know our worth,
The sun and I!
I mean to rule the earth,
As he the sky —
We really know our worth,
The sun and I!

Observe his flame,
That placid dame,
The moon's Celestial Highness;
There's not a trace
Upon her face
Of diffidence or shyness:
She borrows light
That, through the night,
Mankind may all acclaim her!
And, truth to tell,
She lights up well,
So I, for one, don't blame her!

Ah, pray make no mistake,
We are not shy;
We're very wide awake,
The moon and I!
Ah, pray make no mistake,
We are not shy;
We're very wide awake,
The moon and I!

  • It's a shame what the room and recording apparatus do to your voice. However, through all of that, it's clear that you've got excellent taste and control. Excellent. So please, do this again and post it but try to use technology that captures you better!

  • @thejameslehman Thank you for your feedback. Perhaps you would be interested in my CD, which was recorded in a professional studio by an audio engineer who works with BMI Classics. The CD is called "The Gilbert & Sullivan Soprano Arias," and it is available at Amazon . com or from me directly via rebeccahains . com. :)

  • I second perfectfeet734.. Bring a microphone close up and...err would you dress up as Japanese to make it perfect?

  • @cuddlyable3 Thanks! It was a recital, so no Japanese dress. :)

  • Very nice voice, wonderful diction and control, very pretty rendition indeed. I think she should open up on those highest notes, she is throttling back a bit to make sure she hits the notes exactly. Bigger high sound up there will come with more time, practice and confidence, then she will blow this song out.

  • she've got the same firstname than me !!

  • You have a truly lovely voice. Keep it up, because you can go far!
