I think the issue is that this book isn't the typical "romance." It follows the story of unconventional characters in a very unconventional world. I loved this book and have read it (as you probably know) over a half a dozen times. I totally connected with Kath and Tommy. They were victims of circumstance who were too afraid to voice how they felt (in my opinion) because of factors outside of their control.

@JASaare (This is totally spoilery in case anyone besides Jaime is reading this) -- I think I just reacted to how it said, for example: "and then we had some more sex, and then we did other stuff." There was no impact in any of the relationships to me, the only thing that really touched me was how they didn't even complain about any of it. On the contrary, Kathy wanted to say thank you. That was really heartbreaking!

But yeah. I'm glad I read it too =)

@MaxieMagyx I think that's because the focus wasn't on the sex, but rather how it was so different for them. Yes, they had it, but with the surgeries, at what cost? The thing that broke my heart was the part where he says, "I used to be it twice in a row easy. But I can't anymore." (paraphrasing) but I think we all experience it differently.
