Our 3 week old baby bunny was abandoned by it's mother, so we had to feed it kitten formula with a dropper.

For anyone who has found a baby bunny . . .
Baby bunnies need to be fed kitten replacement formula for their digestive systems (buy from vet). Also get some acidoplihus powder (from a health food store). Mix a spoonful of kitten formula with a pinch of the powder and a teaspoon of cream or milk together in a wee bowl with warm water. Suck it up in a dripper and feed it to baby. Bunny should get the hang of it pretty quick. They will drink until they are full. Feed twice a day until about 7 weeks old.

Offer them grass and dandelion leaves to start with. They will start eating it when they are ready (usually around 6 weeks old). Later they like a bit of hay as well and you can get bunny crunchies from a pet shop. Veges are good but lettuce leaves can sometimes give them diarrhea to start with as they can have sensitive digestive systems.

Feeding the right food means developing the right enzymes in their stomach. If the bunny does not develop these enzymes, the bunny won't live. A bit later on you will notice that the bunny will eat its own poo pellets (caelotrophs) which aid in its digestive processes. This is normal! LOL!

The bunny will like to have close contact with you. Sitting in warm pockets is good, or I used to wear a scarf and she would snuggle around my neck and fall asleep!

Put newspaper in corner in bathroom and they will potty train themselves. Later a box with cat litter also works well.

Good luck!

  • 0:42 She touch the eyes of this rabbit. That doesn't hurt?

  • @ToniKatsOP the way I stroked her was mimicking what it would be like if her mother was licking her. I didn't poke her in the eye, I just stroked gently near it. She was never irritated by it, it always seemed to comfort her...

  • He was fine...I still can't believe he's dead :'( I feel so lonely without him...why did this happen man why! I miss him and I wasn't there to save him!! He made it to my bed! He was trying to tell me he was sick but I was too busy sleeping!! I feel horrible..I haven't ate or slept. I miss him dearly.

  • @FashionistaTokyo I am so sorry. What a brave little bunny. Let's hope he is in a better place now. It's amazing how these little creatures touch our hearts! He was lucky to have someone like you to love him! xx
