Wouldn't an all seeing god know that sin would happen - so why is he surprised and disappointed? you keep telling us that he created us in his image. What on earth are we to make of this nonsense?

I prefer the Jesuit Raymund Schwager's take on Rene Girard's scapegoat theory ("Must there be Scapegoats?") as a full explanation for the anger and violence in the New and Old Testaments. I can't see modern Biblical studies going anywhere without it.
