This is my review of the Sweet Potato XL and the Wishbone flute made by Darryn Songbird from Songbird Ocarina; www.songbirdocarina.com (the website is shown on my laptop screen)

I'm using the wonderful "write-things-down-on-a-piece-of --paper" technique, mainly because I don't like the sound of my voice. Plus I don't know anything about editing video's and adding text.

I just got my Ocarina 2 weeks ago, and I really love playing it. I thought I'd make a review to help other people who are new to Ocarina's and are thinking of buying one. I hope this helps, and if you have any questions go ahead and ask away.

When I've practiced enough I might make some vids of me playing some songs. But as you can hear in the vid I still need a lot of practice.

The background music is from the Nintendo DS game Animal Crossing Wild World; opening theme, the roost, shampoodle and able sisters. If anyone feels like transcribing these.....*puppy dog eyes*

I'm going to look for some simple editing software and hopefully make a better review when I have my STL 12 hole tenor Enigma. So expect a review of that sometime in the next weeks.

  • The wishbone hasn't been on his site for a while now. Maybe he stopped making them =(

  • wait the fipple hole on that thing doesn't have any angle at all does it?

  • The wishbone has only 4 holes and I'm actually not sure how the fingering works. But I think it does not resemble the fingering of the Zelda XL. The fipple in fact does have a slight angle, but it's hard to see in the video.

  • thanks for the info!:) but could you tell me how does it feel?plastic?like a soft rock?tell me please:)

  • it's ceramic.

  • I ordered the sweet potato ocarina but the commformation of the order hasn't been sent to me by e mail... does anyone know how long it takes to get it?

  • If it takes too long, you could try e-mailing Darryn Songbird. I'm sure he can help you out.

  • @changdae11

I finally found it Im guessing songbird ocarina changed it its now called Zeldasocarinas

  • sadly this specific site doesnt exist anymore...cant find it

  • @Wiimaster303 Animal Crossing Wild World.

  • Dude seriously, your on the internet, who gives a fuck what your voice sounds like lol, cant be as irritating as having to read off yellow message paper

  • I wonder why they changed the website

  • I have that one.

  • Mine has 6 holes on the top and 2 on the bottom, but it's a pendant ocarina with a wolf design.

I bought it and I made one.

I made one with 8 holes on the top and 2 on the bottom, but it's a sweet potato ocarina.

I just don't know what kind of pitch that is.

I glazed it electric blue of 4 coats and 2 coats of super clear glaze.

I could show both my ocarinas when and if I get a webcam or some kind of camcorder.
