Air Force 1 Landing London Stansted - FIRST Video Upload & G8 Arrivals

This was THE FIRST video upload of President Obama's very first trip to London as part of the G20 meeting. Air Force One, Chinnook Helicopters plus other state dignatory aircraft including Russian Illyshuyn 96 and Saudi Arabian 747 also visited. Filmed late on 31 March 09 and uploaded on the same day this video has more than any of the others! With security incredibly hight this video was shot on a small Sony HCR3 and shows a Saudia Arabian 747-400, Russian IL96, Chinook helicopters and the presidential helicopter and of course, Airforce One landing at Stansted.

What a superb video! Really well done! I have acouple of questions though, firstly how long before AF1 landed were the helicopters milling around? And secondly, how did you find out when and more importantly where Air Force One would be landing? I ask because since Obama is visiting us again on Tuesday 24th, I'd love to get a few shots of the plane myself and, more importantly, see it in real life!

@anticlimax1471 hi anticlimax1471 thanks very much. TBH it's hard to remember as this was a few years ago, the helicopters came in over the back of us, however they arrived in good light and AF1 was later, although this was in March before the clocks changed so might have only been an hour or so before. Didn't know when it would land, not on normal freqencies for security. Had to hang about most of the day. U need to be along Belmer Road at STN. Remember to bring any ID with u.

@bananamanuk Ah I see, that sounds good. I was planning to make a day of it anyway so I don't mind hanging around, however I would like to know how you found out that AF1 would be landing at Stansted? Does it always land at Stansted? Because some others have told me that it sometimes lands at Heathrow?

@anticlimax1471 It was announced that G8 leaders were coming and also listed on a y ahoo group for Stansted movements, I think it was on pprune earlier than that as well. Doesn't always come to STN, but traffic lighter there so probably makes easier from security point of view. Hope that helps a bit.

@cbpointblank it is technically not marine one, concidering the president is onboard airforce one, because they are only called airforce one, or marine one when the president is onboard, its a callsign that is used only when he is on the aircraft(s), if he is not on them then a different callsign is used
