Mine does not open with the procedure demonstrated. Nor does it open after having been tapped with claw hammer. I have one of the original mini Gun Vaults which I purchased in the 90's. It always works & still opened upon my returning from my tour of duty. My tour had me away 13 months. My wife told me she opened the Gun Vault dozens of times (no battery change) while I was away & it always worked for her. In my humble opinion the Gun Vault is an outstanding product that performs as advertised.

I have one next to my bed and try to open it this way, it didn't open. It must be a bad one.

I bought one a month ago, tried these techniques to open it and it did not open. This one has to be a lemon.

I have had one for over 4 years and just replaced the first set of batteries this year. It works great for me.

It's amazing someone while post a video knocking a product instead of simply returning a defective product for a good one.

I'm very happy with mine and will buy one again.

I owned three of these safes many years ago and the mfg went out of business and patent was bought by the new company. All three of the electronic locking devices quit working in a years time and the new company would not do anything about it. Still setting on my shelf not usable.

I have had a problem with the batteries running down to fast. I have owned mine for a few years and it has gotten progressively worse in terms of the fresh batteries running down within a cpl of days. I dont even bother using the keypad anymore I cannot trust it or afford to keep purchasing aa batteries for it i think it takes 7 of them. I have also tried hard wiring it to an ac outlet but did not work out. I am now looking for a new safe. If not 4 this issue its a good quality safe for the home

Definitely something wrong with your safe -- I own three of these (one at my house, one I gave to my retired parents, one to my sister and her husband). Mine DOES NOT do this.
I went over to my parents place to test theirs.
Theirs DOES NOT do this. I then sent my brother-in-law this video and asked him to test his. He reported that his DOES NOT do this.
Verdict: you have a defective Gunvault.
