On May 16, 2009 Perry's Victory & International Peace Memorial dedicated a Peace Garden. It is small but hopes are that it will grow in size. Also as part of the dedication the British Flag was raised for the first time at Perry's Victory & International Peace Memorial. At the time of the terrorist attacks on New York and Washington, the British performed an act of kindness I will never forget: They played "The Star Spangled Banner" at their Changing Of the Guard. This act of respect and affection must have moved many on this side of the pond to tears of joy and friendship. I know it did me.
