@Hedphelym Actually if you throw water on a magnesium fire it becomes VERY flammable due to the intense heat separating the oxygen from the hydrogen molecules.

if anyone wants to try to do this. I would try it on a small scale first. To produce hydrogen gas you can use a hydrochloric acid and zinc. And to produce the oxygen gas you can do a yeast and hydrogen peroxide reaction

We did this with pipet bulbs at school the teacher refused to let us move up because of it explosion. In order to do this you need to have like a 1mL:2mL ratio of hydrogen gas to oxygen gas. Then you need to light it why keeping the gas in the bottle. It can be loud for something as small as a pipet bulb.

its only because you put a load of water in the bottom, i guess you thought it was going to push the water out

yeah without the water it would've exploded more violently than this. My problem was i overfilled it with hydrogen, not water.
