  • I don't fully understand the mechanism, but Arstide Caville-Coll had an arrangement of two ventils which allowed a single pre-setting, literally of one additional registration for the entire instrument. This predated the modern combination action, and I believe that the society church (St.Sulpice) instrument was the best example. It's endearing to hear Daniel Roth humming, much in the manner of Glen Gould(??) - someone so at one with the music that he transcends the mechanics of the instrument!

  • Klasse!!!

  • There are three great Vierne players in the world: Daniel Roth, Ben van Oosten and Pétur Sakari!!!!

  • organ music is made for Daniel Roth

  • einfach unglaublich toll gespielt und was für ein einmaliges instrument! Merci mr Roth!!

  • 5 people cannot appreciate a true master interpret French Symphonic Repertoire.

  • Most favorite interpretation ever! Inspired me when I learned this awhile back too :)))

  • @betz554 Are you high?

  • Fantastic!!! Definitely Vierne Symphony No. 2. I have Aoleus recording if Mr. Roth playing it on this instrument. Available from Joe Vitacco at JAV Recordings. I loved it when he hummed along, and also when he was resetting the action at the end.

  • It is indeed the Vierne - I have played it myself on many occasions. Why betz554 should be so certain it was Widor is difficult to understand.

  • @betz554 This is most certainly Vierne Symphony 2

  • @betz554 It is not
