I really miss this era. Just a female vocalist onstage alone belting it out. Melissa, Pat Benatar, Laura Branigan, etc. None of these poptarts today like Miley or Taylor Swift can hold a candle to them.

Note to Britney and crew...she's SINGING, not LIP SYNCING!!!

This 'video' shouldn't have gotten any thumbs up. There is not video and the audio sucks!

Clearly not her genre, but worth the risk. I saw her perform this in New Orleans and she did not disappoint.

What comes to mind is all these fantastic singer/songwriters who have created all these great songs that have been nominated and won awards, a testamony just how good these songs are, looking at today and the quality of music it's no wonder there are no songs capable of being nominated, a sad reality that in years to come there'll be no memory of the music of today's era.

Fantastic song. Most of today's music is pure junk.

@kentgraovac - Yes, very brave to be on stage ALL BY HERSELF. Nobody does that anymore. That's a TON of performance pressure. Very few people can pull that off.
How come she became so trampy looking so unlike her beginnings?

That was Clive Davis that pushed her to go commercial and do pop. She wasn't thrilled about it but this song was a huge hit and got her the Grammy. After Mathematics in 1985 she returned to the "earthy" Melissa we all know and love.

No..it was just when videos were getting big but Arista didn't make one for Melissa and they should have. Luckily the song hit the top 5 without one. Luckily, Solid Gold showed Melissa's appearence often and it was well watched at the time. She sang it live on the American Music Awards and was a cohost that year so this song truly changed her career. Unfortunatly, Melissa doesn't look back fondly on her pop years and doesn't sing this in her concerts nowadays :-(
