Jimmy Dye B-24 bomber pilot is shot down during the attack of the island Chi Chi Jima in feb. of 1945. Six other of his brothers in arms were taken as POW. This video is based on the true events of Chi Chi Jima.

Good job —My Dad was on the ship that was assigned to head to Chichi Jima and accept formal surrender —There were 20,000 Japanese soldiers on that island and, that was communications central —and, bullet-proof —Dad said, it was pretty unsettling as sailing into the harbor looking at those gun emplacements —They were all thinking —"They do know the war is over —yes?" —No one knew of the atrocities until later...

I read about Chichi Jima in Flyboys by James Bradley.

Jimmy Dye was a radioman flying on an Avenger not B24. B24's were Army bombers not navy bombers. If youre going to remember them try and be a little more accurate.

Obviously I need to get better actors, but you should study up on Chi Chi Jima, I turned this project in for my class "modern warfare" and my teacher who majored in history found it to be quite stirring..
