  • dude, why did you get cast as mephistopheles. that's an A3 that you miss in the first section. The types that are meant for this role routinely sing down to the F below that.

  • @TheMaximusd Thanks for making your comment and, even after all this time, I can assure you that I will try and pass it on to my acquaintance who was the performer here. I feel sure he will value the information.

For your information (and for others who might be interested) I posted these little videos here (tag=THWO) before I had the DVD of this 'made-up' show finalized so that certain members of the cast could see themselves in action sooner rather than later :-)

  • but you are a tenor, not a bass.

  • So..?

  • Our version at video response! Cheers from Brazil!

  • Mephistopheles does not approve of this faggotry.

  • @briantho So.... the role is for a bass. The voice type matters in the tone of the piece; as a result of his tone, in order to make it work, he has to speed up the tempo, which changes the entire mood of the aria.

  • @briantho aW HE'S DOING THE BEST HE CAN

  • This singer is pushing Heldentenor at least. With some training, he could most likely push the high B note. Mephistopheles is a bass-baritone! Aside from that, a good performance, but, as I said, voice is too high.

  • @briantho yeah, it's a tough gig to be given the role of a bass-baritone when it's not your range.
