Well, if you look at the images Google recently provided of its datacenters, apparently Stevens was way ahead of the rest of us. The Internet IS made of tubes. Very brightly colored ones.

Yes, many of us do behave like little children. Indeed it is not good, and I agree, I should not have done it. But it was funny at the time. Regrets, of course, because, as I say, the man was right in many ways.

This is quite true. But he was not harranged for that. He was ridiculed for being an old man who couldn't possibly know anything about modern technology... like the way I used to laugh my ass off at my mom when she would call a McDonalds Big Mac a "Big Boy" when they first came out with it.  She just wasn't cool. Neither was Ted Stevens... and that was wrong to do.
