A look inside a home-made spectroscope, as an RGB LED scans from 780 to 380 nm (in RGB values). As you can see, this thing isn't going to replace a monochromator any time soon.

Note the ever-present blue line throughout; this is because my webcam has a blue LED that can't be shut off of effectively covered (but I guess it makes a handy reference...).
