yeah there good but why not just grab it by the shell i find it much easier

Yeah I used to think that too. For years I used only hand, but I find with a snare I'm able to get to the big ones at the back of the shelf that are either out of reach by hand or behind a bunch of smaller ones that spook when you go in by hand. Since I started using a snare, I've been able to get much bigger crays with a much higher success rate.

@mcbigg What technique do you use with the snare? Do you go in with it as a small noose then make it bigger nehind the crayfish?

I dive lots in NZ and only use hands, but you are right, the big ones are out of reach by hand. Thats why they are so big I guess. I want to learn how to use a cray noose.

im a ex cray diver in north queensland we used to buy those loops as we called them for catchin painted crayfish and there illegal in queensland but we still used them. id rather my hands its easier i reckon
