Brief documentary segment about V. Mayakovsky, highlighting his relationship with his publisher's wife, Lilya Brik--a revolution of another kind shaping his work. Includes excerpts from his poetry.
Dedicated to my sister, who first purchased this film on VHS years ago. Please bear with the overall video transfer quality. This brief segment is shared for educational purposes.
Thank you for the video about Mayakovsky's deep love to "muse of Russian avant-garde"(Pablo Neruda) unusual
Lilia (Kogan) Brik ( Brik for the first husband),the sister of Elsa Triolet who was a girl- friend of Mayakovsky and met Vladimir with Lilia(Later Elsa was Louis Aragon's wife and a notable French writer).
Wow ! I got chills. The poem and the reading were both what the Russians call "душещипательные" which literally means "soul-pinching". Thank you for posting this gem.
Great post, however fleeting! A reminder how some peoples DO hold their poets in the highest esteem. ...once, as any rate. I doubt Putin has ever seriously read Pushkin, Mayakovsky or even Yevtushenko!
beautiful
