Yes, we understand those feelings because the Church is made up of sinful humans; however, the overall root is not one or two bad experiences but, instead, a hardened heart toward God. The real root is rebellion against God. Sin is nothing more than separation from God & man's thoughts & behaviors can either draw him closer to the heart & mind of God, or, our rejection of His Word hardens our hearts further against Him. The Bible is the Mind of God.

@Ahisman12 ... absolutely anyone can pray as much as they so choose. satanic worshipers choose to pray to satan. You misunderstand the Establishment Clause ... government cannot reject a student leading prayer on public property and is not legal government sponsorship of religion. Mr. Staver and Mr. Barber mentioned that one of the atheist leaders they debated seemed to have a hatred of God. Has anyone tried to find out what the root of his feelings is? Many folks who are hostile toward religion have a reason for their views. Some folks discriminate against a particular religion due to a bad experience with one of its followers. Having had such and experience in my own life, I can understand certain feelings.

A Christian can pray all he want. But so can anyone else. And for the government to actually institute prayer (such as leading students in prayer) is a clear violation of the Establishment Clause. Individuals praying in a respectful way is one thing. Government sponsorship of prayer is another.

@13shb ... public record shows that Liberty Counsel has defended the religious liberties of groups we disagree with because the First Amendment still protects offensive speech. It does not guarantee Freedom FROM Religion but, instead, Freedom OF Religion. In addition, we do not charge our clients because we are donation-based.
