Alma struggled. The Airedales had four turnovers, a missed field goal, a bad snap on a punt, as well as an array of penalties and dropped passes. Van Buren capitalized and in a rare performance dominated the Airedales from start to finish in a 38-7 blowout on Friday. It was the first time the Pointers won at Alma since 1996. That year, a 22-0 win against Alma helped propel Van Buren to the Class AAAA state title. Simply Alma had penalties; turned the ball over and had miscues everywhere. Alma had too many mental erros to go along with some oppurtunities and missed taking advantage of them against their long time Crawford County Rival. Follow the Airedales next week as they take on the Sallisaw Black Diamonds at 7:00 PM on Friday September 10th.
