In this video, I demonstrate the installation of waterblocks on an Asus Rampage II Extreme mainboard. The step by step instructions include removing the original heatsinks from the board and the entire installation process of the waterblocks.
Waterblocks used:
- Koolance MB-ASR2E
- Koolance DRAM cooler for MB-ASR2E
- MIPS Rampage II Extreme Mosfet Freezers 1 and 2

Special thanks to Aquatuning for providing the Mosfet blocks.

  • Sorry for sounding a noob when it comes to water cooling but, What are the main benefits in water cooling the north and south chip sets besides the cpu itself?

  • Well, the waterblocks look cool!

Apart from that, the benefits of watercooling the MB components are minimal (especially with chipsets like the X58).

Sure, it may help you get a little higher overclocks, but nothing dramatic, in most cases.

  • Hi, great vid, i am building a custom computer and i am using the Rampage II Extreme MOBO, could you tell me where you bought this kit, thanks

  • Well, I bought it from a dealer in Germany, which is probably not much use to you (depending on where you live). But you can always order from Koolance directly, if you can't find the block anywhere else.

  • very good job man...but tell me:it's so important watercooling the mosfets?or it's enogh the nb and the sb?

  • In most cases, liquid-cooling the mosfets isn't really necessary. However, with the Rampage II Extreme (as well as some other mainboards) your only options are to either use a Fusionblock style cooler or install waterblocks on all the components. Because the heatsink is connected with heatpipes, you can't leave the original heatsinks on the mosfets and replace the NB/SB coolers.

i will buy all the parts this weekend, so probably by the next weekend i could start.

quick question: no compound is needed for mosfet blocks??

    thanks.

  • @DeXgocom watercooled chipsets also have a longer life than heatsink chipsets because they run at a cooler temperature, almost half.

  • does anybody know of a waterblock that will work of the rampage 3 black ??!?!?!?!

  • any waterblocks for evga 790i ftw out there???thank u all .

  • this water-block fit on the Asus Rampage Extreme X48??? ty

  • A little make up wont hurt the quality of your contet.

  • @Mantgm240 you can get from frozencpudotcom which ships worldwide via FedEx

  • You said to start the motherboard before you bother removing mosfets/bridges. A stupid question on my part but is it possible to hook the psu to the mobo press the mobos on button and just see if it gets power so i dont void my warranty? Or wouldn't it boot at all without ram/cpu? Again it's probably a stupid question >.>

  • @DeXgocom its not avaiable there, Where els??

  • you have very big balls

  • great video...and tutorial...i own the same mobo R2E ...and was considering watercooling it...thanks for the nice video
