Spending the day in the wilderness, workin' up a real hunger. In most of this video we spend it cutting and chopping fire wood to boil our water on the coals. Mountain House hits the spot...again! using the GSI kettle on the coals of a fire. Works great. And when the kettle gets all full of soot it can easily be cleaned with alcohol and looks like new once again. Ready for your next adventure :o)

  • What type of fixed blade were you using to baton your wood?

    Thanks Great Vid

  • @NKGMAN Thanks! It was a Ontario SP5 16" carbon blade. Good knife. I don't believe they make it anymore though. But it may still be found.

  • @johnmonk66 Yeah :o)...plus a 12x8 wouldn't actually be big enough for that ! Especially where two people are considered. It would have to be much bigger.

  • @Ggreenvideos Didn't think much about weight, figured a 12 by 8 foot blue plastic tarp wasn't very heavy, but every ounce counts.

  • @johnmonk66 Hehe...I haven't done that, although I have been thinking about it...many times :o) Just it's hard to carry a tarp that big when snowshoeing in the bush. Now if I were driving a snowmobile, that would change everything. I would be pulling a skimmer and hauling a canvas tent and a wood stove...hehe!

  • I am curious if you ever tried a teepee as a shelter, just use some paracord to hold 3 or 4 8 foot pieces of wood together and wrapped in a tarp. I can't find any youtube videos showing the use of one, though it seems it would be a quick way to make shelter

  • Yup, It's always a blast :o)

  • I love that flavor, looks like you had a fun day.
