Beginning and end quotes from Horace Mann
"Education then, beyond all other devices of human origin, is the great equalizer of the conditions of men - the balance-wheel of the social machinery"
Educational institutions, as a whole, have remained relatively unchanged for decades. As our society continues to advance, and our businesses and our personal lives are drastically improved by technological progress, our educational system and methodologies remain stagnant.
The future of education, both in the United States and worldwide, is one that will adopt technology to further increase its effectiveness and its potential. I view a world where students don't view technology as simply tools for completing a task, but rather an extension of the entire educational process.
Students have access to a world of information, relationships, and learning opportunities at their literal fingertips. Technology has the power to reform education and to help propel those with the motivation to succeed. It's time the education system took advantage of this technology. The power of technology combined with that of educators will truly allow for anyone with the desire to solve the worlds toughest problems to do so.
"A human being is not attaining his full heights until he is educated."
