Excellent

Really Glad I happened upon your vids. Better instruction than some of the stuff I've paid money for. You are a noble soul for sharing your knowledge with the rest of us. All I can say is many thanks. ps Not to be greedy but if you are into Montrose I would love to see a lesson on how to play the solo on "Voyager" from Gamma 2.

first of all, i gotta say you're one of the best i've seen in youtube and certainly way better than me. But i also have to say, you have way too much gain for that good van halen brown sound. you know you have to turn the volume up but hold that gain back a little bit. as is, your tone is too close to that 80's hair band and not so much to that classic eddie tone.

Got it, thanks

@AllanHP yea VH I and II are all half step down,

Awesome... great job................GW
Ive enjoyed your tutorials, ive been trying to learn VH solos and your breakdowns are very informative. Im 99.9% self taught so im very sloppy when it comes to technique. What always gets me is what fingers to use on what notes during solos, it ties me up when i try to learn them, i would appreciate it if you could add a diagram of the tab running at the bottom of the video with finger positioning in future videos.

@BatFan1 Self taught gives you a HUGE advantage, you develop your ears. Very important. Don't worry about finger positions, sloppiness or anything else. Learn what works for you, develop your own style.
Tabs - not something I plan on doing. I only have time to play maybe 7-10hrs a month and I spend 3-5 of those recording these vids and posting them.
Shoot me an email with any musical questions you want to ask, I'll answer for you and try to help out the best I can.

are you half step down?
i'm not sure, but i think that eddie is half step down in the whole first album, or at least most of it.

@AllanHP I don't use a tuner, I just tune up and go. I'm probably close to Eb, thought. As for Ed, everything is AT LEAST in Eb, sometimes lower. The first 3 albums were tuned down. There are only a few songs (like Jump and LIttle Guitars) were he's not tuned down.
