This is a video with excerpts about the economical theory of Distributism. This thought was based on the encyclical Rerum Novarum of Pope Leo XIII, initiated by English thinkers and propelled universally by writers G.K. Chesterton and Hilaire Belloc.

  • Minor flaw in reasoning. Property in everything but land and natural resources is correct since to do otherwise takes what truly belongs to producers from them. The land, natural resources, the earth itself, is God's creation and gift to all mankind equally for proper use, to be shared via the mechanism of the land value tax. Land cannot properly be called property in the same way that the wages of labor can be called property. The church must speak out against wage taxing socialism.

  • For the most part, Georgists and Distribtutists speak past each other. We can certainly find much in agreement in terms of land reform (Land to the Tiller for example). The work of the Georgists in NYC is commendable.

By the way, I am not sure if you are in the NY area, but there will be a free capitalist-socialist-distributist debate on April 4th at Nassau Community College (Long Island, NY).We would welcome Georgists and Schumacher Society members attendance.

  • i love it! lets do it!

  • The United Nations and David Rockefeller tell us that Capitalist/Communist China is the "model state of the world" for all to imitate. The intended synthesis has taken place; it turned out that a bird of prey has two wings.

  • May I be a distributist if I work to revive the Roman/Byzantine Empire, Senate, Emperor and accompanying Culture into a new existance?

  • Great Video!

  • The whole series is good, but the clips go a bit fast. One does not have time to think about the quotes before one is off onto another one. And one has to read them fairly fast before they dissappear. It is not giving one enought time to digest each quote.

  • small government AND small business.

  • Great video, great quotes.

Why not link to distributism<dot>com, too.

  • If you like small government, you will love distributism.
