The SoIll Showdown... This is the biggest small competition I've seen. Hosted on a home wall in the garage at the SoIll Compound.
This was a local comp but Obe Carrion showed up and gave this comp a "pro" feeling. He even pulled his trademark double-kick which we were actually talking about the previous day. I was so glad to have that footage of Dan describing the move I had to open the movie with it. It's then followed by footage from the dyno comp at the PBC where Obe gave a great show even without sticking any dyno. After meeting Obe, I had to remind myself once more not to judge anyone just by reading stuff. The guy was really nice both at the Showdown and at the PBC and his sole presence made the Showdown a worthy event.
The format of the comp was 4 qualifiers and then only one problem for the finals. It was all about the show and Obe delivered the goods by flashing it with style.
