My old D16 had not been run since I was a boy: it still works well (as well, at least, as it ever did work: the boiler was never very efficient), and the dynamo still powers the lamp. (New slightly extended version)

  • Hi, what year is this engine? I have one and trying to figure out the date of it. Great video btw!

  • @JohnVH541 Glad that you like the video! I bought this in 1990, in Hamley's, funnily enough.

  • nice it has super heated steam

  • Not so much superheated as slightly dried - but they do pass the steam pipe sort of through the firebox...

  • Well presented again, James. Nice showing of what it is all about, how to care for it, run it.

A good intro for new viewers of toy steam.

  • Thank you for your kind words :-)

  • @jamespetts2 i created superheater for my firebox by bending some copper pipe so it covered as large an area possible to superheat the steam then just cut out the old pipe and silver soldered the new one in place

  • Do you know where I can get such a lamp?

  • Wow nice steam engine!

  • Very well done, enjoyed watching the engine.
