    Series 8 was shown in 1999, then there were 10 years between that and 'Back to Earth' which aired in 2009 and then two years between 'BTE' and series X (2012).

    Same here, it just felt strange without the laughter and that made back to earth seem kind of dull. Glad they kept it for the real series though.

    I really don't know where a lot of these people are coming from. I've been a fan of Red Dwarf for a while and other than Back to Earth, 1-8 and 10 were all fantastic. If anything the show got better as it went on because the story developed past a guy who just survived a space catastrophe. The laughter, canned or live, makes the show for me, I literally can't watch RD without it.

    Sometimes I seriously think people just like the originals because they came first...
