CANNES, FRANCE (MAY 19, 2009) (REUTERS) ACTRESS RACHEL WEISZ SAYING: "Historical, epic dramas like Ben Hur and Spartacus: They first of all have a man at the centre of the story and secondly, people behave in a period drama kind of way. I don't know how anyone knows how people behaved in the 4th century, and as acting styles develop, so do period dramas, I think. Since Marlon Brando, acting has been completely revolutionised. So it seems to me a very reasonable and good idea to even though you are in the 4th century, you still behave like a human being. And we didn't sit talking slang or any modern terms, so there is nothing anachronistic. But there is no reason why the character should not be totally naturalistic."

  • I absolutely loved how the cast acted naturally, sometimes with a bit of what could have been slang back then. It made the whole thing seem more real than any movie of that genre I have ever seen.
