João Pernambuco, originally João Teixeira Guimarães, was born in 1883. He composed many beautiful choros that demonstrated the Brazilian approach to guitar. Grauna translates to "Blackbird" in English. Performed with a Ramirez 125 Anos guitar.

  • Amazing playing! I also love the tone of this guitar - am considering buying one before they stop the run. Is yours a cedar or spruce top? The vid is a bit dark, so it's difficult to tell.

  • @FlyingPancreas Hi, thanks for the comment. This guitar has a cedar top and does have a very nice Spanish tone. The guitar is not as "boomy" and overdriven as this video might indicate. Overall I think it's a great guitar as long as you don't expect a $20,000 guitar for a fraction of the price. Cedar seems to fit the Ramirez aesthetic better than spruce, although it would be nice to have one of each.

  • What are you guys talking about? I thought the sound was fantastic. I'm thinking of buying one of these guitars, and everything I heard made me start drooling over the sound. Fantastic playing Larry, thank you, I really enjoyed the piece. Wish I had the skill to play it.

  • @bogbel Thanks bogbel! Youtube uses algorithms that affect the sound. Youtube changed their algorithms a few months ago. The clip sounds a little better now than it did when it was first posted.

  • Very good!!!

  • Great playing! I have been trying to decide on a guitar for a long time. Your performance here and a few others I have watched convinced me to go with the Ramirez 125. I bought the spruce model. I don't regret buying it. It is a great instrument.

  • Bravo
