Visit of Dr. Samar Mubarakmand, Member Commission regarding
Underground Coal Gasification of Pakistani Lignite at FRC-PCSIR
Dr. Samar Mubarakmand a renowned nuclear scientist and Member (S&T), Planning Commission, Government of Pakistan along with Mr. Abdur Rehman, Chief (S&T), Planning Commission, Islamabad, Government of Pakistan visited Fuel Research Centre, PCSIR on March 12, 2011. Dr. Shoukat Parvez Chairman, PCSIR along with Mr. Gulzar Hussain Jhatial Director FRC welcomed the team. The team visit of laboratory scale plant for Underground gasification of Coal (UCG) in the premises of Fuel Research Centre and showed his keen interest in the operation of UCG plant. The Member (S&T), Planning Commission discussed the functional
layout of UCG plant with Dr. Shoukat Parvez Chairman, PCSIR and Mr. Gulzar Hussain Jhatial.During visit Mr. Santosh Kumar SSO, FRC have explained the
construction of coal bed and the operational conditions of the UCG plant. Dr. Samar Mubarakmand along with other scientists also examined gas flame and the power generation obtained from Syngas by the underground gasification of Pakistani lignite in FRC.A detailed discussion session was held after the visit in the conference room of Fuel Research Centre, PCSIR. Mr. Santosh Kumar presented the overview of the progress of UCG performed
in Fuel Research Centre, PCSIR. Dr. Samar Mubarakmand appreciated the efforts of the FRC scientists and other members of UCG project. He said that the technology of UCG is introducing first time in Pakistan and he has assigned the target of the UCG and production of syngas to different organizations. The Fuel Research Centre, PCSIR has got a distinct position between the other organizations by showing his positive contribution with consistency in this regard.During discussion he told about the current status of the UCG work at block V in Thar coalfield.In the reply of a question, Dr. Samar Mubarakmand has discussed that the quality of coal is an important parameter for the failure of Lakhra coal power plants. He said that the reserves of Thar coal are ideal in terms of low sulfur and the water aquifers which are present over the coal. During meeting Dr. Samar Mubarakmand appreciated the scientists of Fuel Research Centre to continue their efforts in future and ask Mr. Gulzar Husain Jhatial, Director FRC to submit a PC-I
for project entitled Design, Manufacturing and Commissioning of Pilot Plant for Conversion of Coal Gas into Diesel / Liquid Fuel.Dr. Samar Mubarakmand also visited PCSIR Laboratories Complex, Karachi, where he discussed the method of UCG. At the end Dr. Shoukat Parvez and Mr. Gulzar Hussain Jhatial
have thanked the Honorable Member (S&T), Planning Commission and his team for his valuable time and providing an opportunity for discussion to the scientists of FRC engaged in the R&D work of UCG.

Its really good but sorry to say that the reporter is saying 100megawatts bulb 8:39 which is impossible to make from 742watts you can check it!!!!!
