Wow. I see everyone dissing Maxtor. They aren't horrible if you take care of them. Over 10 years ago, my parents purchased a stock of 12. They were practically handed down to me. Only 2 have broken down. One because of MFACE, and the other got shorted by a bad processor. The rest still work beautifully.

@ypoora1 i was going to say the same thing, bcas hitachi makes everything, like tvs, and screw drivers, westerndigital, and seagate, only make hard drives and they do very good!

I had a maxtor that looked almost the same as this, and it was completely bad. It wouldn't even recognize in windows, I checked everything else, but nope, dead. I have an older 40gb maxtor that works great though. Western Digital FTW!

Maxtor used to do good HDDs i Have a 40Giga maxtor and ofter 9 years it still works flawlesly. bummer that brand no longer exists as an independent but servers as Seagates cheap product line.

@CarlJean22 if you can get a usb 2.0 to sata or ide adapter and actually get some data to come off then lucky you its really rare for that to happen though
