Venturi in the keyhole was strong my only option was to spiral in rather than cross/hit the bridge, traffic, electric lines and the water on the other side.
That's a hard lesson to learn, but don't stall your aircraft! Looks to me, had he just stayed off the brakes, and into the wind, and just LET THE GLIDER FLY ITSELF, he would have been ok.
In a wind velocity exceeding minimum speed why not back in? In any case maintaining one's upwind advantage can be a hard lesson to absorb and consistently apply. At least it might have turned out better had the pilot stayed oriented into the wind instead of looking and turning off the wind line. You go where you look and the web cam shows clearly where the pilot was looking as well as revealing the right brake application which helped turn the wing turned off straight into the wind.
I chose the same landing once when I was learning. I think we both made the mistake of misjudging the conditions. Had we left ourselves more options (ie: a plan-B) then we wouldn't have had to helicopter in.
vortex, no speedbar, too much brakes, glad ur ok
