President Obama's pick for a key role in implementing his new Afghanistan strategy as commander of American and NATO forces in Afghanistan is Lieutenant General Stanley McChrystal of the U.S. Army. The general has spent most of his career in combat special operations, but officials say he has also become an expert in the complex warfare of counterinsurgency. VOA Pentagon correspondent Al Pessin has this profile of the new commander and what he hopes to achieve.

He does not sound like a tough grizzled old soldier but some kind of dandified Nancy boy, who is afraid of wars and he is indubitably no sea-dog but the sort of pasty landlubber I have always despised. I'll warrant, the most exciting thing that has happened to this limpid prawn in a whole year, was the day when he forgot to put sugar in his porridge!

"Deter, defeat and destroy" ..just don't fire unless fired upon...and make sure after they do you ask the White House at least 6 times for permission to fire back. A new General that will win a war by winning "hearts and minds" ? Think that has been tried before...maybe he never read or heard of VIETNAM.
