A few years ago, one of our Nashville projects was feature in a Historic Preservation Board's "Preservation Minute." The Historic Preservation Board is located in Bowling Green, KY.

"Preservation Minute" Transcript
Welcome to this month's edition of the Historic Preservation Board's Preservation Minute, sponsored by the Contractor's Licensing Board.

Buildings change over time, but an addition to your home that is not well planned could destroy the historic value and character of your house.

When planning an addition, place the new section on an inconspicuous side of the house, or at the rear of the home.

Be sure to keep the elements of your home, such as decorative woodwork or a bay window that provide it with its character and personality. Further, protect the character of your home by making a clear distinction between the old house and the new addition, either with a slight inset in the walls or with a narrow connector.

These simple rules can help you modernize your house or meet the needs of a growing family, without destroying the character of your older home.

The Historic Preservation Board's Preservation Minute has been brought to you by Insight Communications and WBKO. Bowling Green, KY
