@Frap357, I know, I was talking about 4Dwm and CDE (which *UTILIZE* Motif) for the n-th time! LOL.
Also, some operating systems (like OpenVMS) refer to CDE as ‘Motif’ (the PAK is called "MOTIF"), because they're so tightly knit.
-
But Motif is a wodget toolkit.
4Dwm and CDE are desktop environments.
They cant be compared.

@Frap357, I was talking about Motif AND 4Dwm and CDE.

Motif is a widget toolkit.
KDE and GNOME are desktop environments.
Motif should be compared to Qt and GTK+.
Qt and GTK+ look way nicer than Motif.
-
@Frap357 give me the high performing, super fast and uncluttered, Motif based (even something less refined than 4Dwm, like CDE) than bloatware such as KDE, Gnome and so on!

I think that Vista and Windows 7 is rather pretty. I agree with you on the usability though, it is pretty difficult to use.
But Motif looks ugly, worse than Windows 95.
KDE 4 looks awesome.
The color scheme on 0:08 looks a lot more SGI-esque than the standard ones for IRIX.

Motif is ugly? only now with recent Linux GUI you're having all that colour schemes available, so missing from the Irix time...

you mean kwin decorations? i were looking for that as well - afaik i think it's a bit hard doing kwin decorations, but they are in C language, needs to be compiled, and is not very easy to create - it's not like Metacity, which are mere xml files
