That unforgettable moment from the VMAs is reviewed, as well as the rest of the night and its winners. It's all up next!

Hey guys! Welcome to ClevverTV's MTV VMA breakdown, I'm Dana Ward.

This Big Apple-based Video Music Awards was one that will go down in the history books. I'm sure that it even set Twitter records with MTV viewers, as iJustine was keeping us posted before and after the show. That being said, I gotta start off with the dramatic Kanye West moment. He jumped up on-stage after a genuinely excited Taylor Swift began her thank-yous for her Best Female Video win. He didn't do this to say congrats or you go girl, but instead, Kanye took the mic away from Taylor to say that Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time. Wow. Everyone was shocked, booed Kanye as he walked off stage and the cameras finally found an OUT by playing a previously recorded vid to go to instead of letting Taylor reply. Just about 99-percent of online bloggers have commented negatively about West's diva-ness, I dunno what's up with the other 1-percent?, stating he got kicked out, and everyone was happy to see Taylor perform her You Belong With Me single while parading thru the subway just moments later.

Another unforgettable performance of the night was definitely a VERY rehearsed one. Pink literally was swinging from the ceiling as her entire Sober-song was performed in the styles of an acrobat. Some other great acts included funky moves by Beyonce, Muse, Green Day, Kid Cudi, plus Jay-Z and Alicia Keyes. And, well, it cannot be disputed that Lady Gaga's Paparazzi was the most out-of-this-world thing that we saw all night. From the weird white costumes, to the fake blood everywhere and the last shot where she appeared to be hanged, I'm pretty much speechless. And that goes for her strange outfits - yes, there were multiple ones.

Getting back to the standout moments of the night, this year's VMAs would not have been complete without a Michael Jackson tribute. It was quite impressive that Madonna spoke out about the King of Pop and then a large-scale compilation performance of Thriller, Bad and Smooth Criminal with amazing dancers dressed in true MJ uniform. Plus, a wonderful re-creation of Scream with Janet Jackson in the house is the highlight of the tribute.

We can't forget the New Moon exclusive extended trailer that got released - trust us, we officially posted it immediately after it got shown. And a fabulously dressed Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner were all on-stage to introduce it to MTV viewers.

Another great moment has to do with Beyonce - I gotta say, what a class act. After winning the Video of the Year award, she invited Taylor Swift upstage to have her moment. B also took home moonmen for Best Choreography and Best Editing, tieing it up with Lady Gaga for Best New Artist, Best Art Direction and Best Special Effects. In fact, it was a 3-way tie for wins in 3-categories, as Green Day won for the Best Rock Vid, Cinematography and Direction. Other winners include an absent-due-to-incarceration TI for Best Male Video, a no-show Britney Spears who's on tour for Best Pop Video as well as Eminem for Best Hip-Hop Video. Matt and Kim won for Breakthrough Artist while Beasie Boys Sabotage won for the Best Video that Should Have Won a Moonman... back in 1994!

The least controversial part of the night - probably because it was expected to be dramatic and definitely got UPstaged - was show host, Russell Brand. Katy Perry and Aerosmith's Joe Perry - no relation - broke out Queen's We Will Rock You to introduce Brand, whos hair was noticably the most tame and smoothest it's ever been.

We'd love to hear about your favorite and least favorite moments from the night. Leave us a comment below.

  • I have to say that Lady GaGa's paparrazi performance was the best because it was greatly sung and nobody knew what she was going to do next. She went from crazy awsome piano solo to being hung, I found it AMAZING!!!

  • Janet Jackson is using MJ's death for money. Ugh.

Lady Gaga was the best, by far :)
