JANA ROBBINS sings "Everything's Coming Up Roses" in GYPSY by Stephen Sondheim & Jule Styne

Before Jana Robbins was above the title on Broadway as one of the producers of such shows as LITTLE WOMEN: The Musical and this seasons highly anticipated revival of RAGTIME, she had top billing as Mama Rose in GYPSY, first as standby for Tyne Daly in the 1989-91 Broadway revival, directed by bookwriter Arthur Laurents [in which she also stopped the show nightly as Mazeppa in You Gotta Get a Gimmick] and later in numerous productions across the country. In this clip from The Reagal Players 1992 production, directed by Robert J. Eagle with the assistance of Tony Rader and Michele Pigliavento, standby for Louis in the 1990 Broadway revival, who also costarred as Louis and is briefly seen in this clip, along with Tim Joliat as Herbie, she brings down the first act curtain with Stephen Sondheim and Jule Styne's "Everything's Coming Up Roses." Ms. Robbins other Broadway appearances include GOOD NEWS, I LOVE MY WIFE, ROMANCE/ROMANCE, THE TALE OF THE ALLERGISTS WIFE. Television appearances include CHEERS, ROSANNE, BABYLON 5, LAW & ORDER, LAW & ORDER CRIMINAL INTENT, LAW & ORDER SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT, and film appearances include MOTHER, THE LAST DAYS OF FRANKIE THE FLY, EXECUTIVE TARGET, and most recently STANLEY CUBA and as the scene stealing Lingerie Sales Woman with Meg Ryan, Annette Benning and Eva Mendes in the 2008 remake of THE WOMEN. The role of Mama Rose was first played on Broadway by the Legendary Ethel Merman, and has subsequently been played on Broadway in revivals starring Angela Lansbury, the above mentioned Tyne Daly, Bernadette Peters and, most recently Patti LuPone.

I was in the audience the night you went for Tyne Daly for the first time in the Broadway revival. You were wonderful (as was that production)! I saw it 9 times.
