Ankra12, it is a special place. My great grandfather is buried here.He was identified and has his own cross. The bone house for the unknown soldiers....I view into hell..

I was here in 2004 and this is really a special place. Going into the church with all the remaining bones in the cellar is incredable. This made a huge impression on me.

we went to this area in 2007 and we intended to stay the night in our Motorhome When it got dark the place is very unwelcomeing and ghostly
We did not stay there for long
In the daytime its very moveing at night time its a differant kettle of fish
I have never felt that way on a battlefield but this area is differant

If you read some books about WOI you will find that the battle of Verdun was a disaster, slaugter en a genuine hell for the soldiers due to strategic errors. I first did not know what the building should resemble, but I was told later the it is a sword in the ground giving the message "till here and no futher". You will the books about Verdun's battle very interesting !
