I love how you make the distinction between the LDS church and what you term "biblical christianity". LOL Anyway, you must admit that it is pretty much a fact that many "born-again" christians believe in salvation by faith, and not by works. However, when taken to the extreme and an example is given of a person who may have faith but lives a sinful lifestyle, you cannot suggest to me that that person would be saved just because they have faith. I am not suggesting that everyone lives this way.
What constitutes an "honest effort"? How much is "enough" obedience? How good is good enough?
As for the James passage, I'm in full agreement; you speak of a widespread misconception about the LDS Church; one misconception of Mormons about biblical Christianity is that they seem to think we believe that faith in Christ means we can be just go be reprobates and live as we please. That is a really vicious misrepresentation of biblical Christianity.
Sent this video to a friend and she loved it. It was comforting to her.

I used to believe mainstream Christianity, now I believe Mormonism. And? A few apostates proves nothing really.

He already did when he beat him and put him on the Cross. Now it is my Jesus' turn. He is coming soon.

@urloony: Nothing wrong with those aspects of a program; the problem comes when it becomes a means of promoting an unbiblical gospel message.

Wow, setting goals, being organized, learning a new language, sounds like a terrible program.
