Way to go man, LOVE IT. Its cool to see how creative people can be, the feeling of getting into a hot tub is always worth it. You gotta check out this new tub that just came out called the FireHotTub, its portable and has its own fire pit ready to go. For those of us that just aren't as handy ;)

@poopstreek Oooh! That'll be cool!!

You need to turn the tub long ways so it parallels the tube and has more contact with the heat.... You could also add rock and or concrete along the sides to create a thermal mass to help store the heat along the sides. Even raising the mass along the sides of the tub would help....

@Dasllama01 There was plenty contact with the heat. I plan on making a better one, this was just a test. When the ground thaws out here, I will make another one. It will be permanent, so I don't want to make errors like making it boil anyone right out, like if I put the pipe long ways... Rocket stoves get HOT.

Cool! Might get a bit too hot, though. Could you circulate the water around the heat chamber so you could regulate the temp? Maybe get a thermal syphon action going, so it would circulate on its own? Of course, I guess you'd have to take a couple of strokes on some sort of hand pump to start it back up when it got too cool...hmmm...I saw the circulation thing on a solar hot tub setup. Pretty interesting.

@cccincocc I was going to thermal siphon water through the chamber, but now I am thinking I will do it on the outside. I thought that it would heat a little faster, but it still heated very slow. Once it is hot, it gets plenty hot, and stays hot for quite a while. This was just an experiment, I have all sorts of ideas now. The goal is to build a much bigger one on a hill, so that people can sit in front of the fire while people are in the tub.
Thanks for the feedback!
