Fun fact: The creator, J. Stuart Blackton was a newspaper cartoonist and this is the first-known attempt at animation, It was the first cartoon to use the single frame method of stop-motion photography and it plays at 20 frames per second.

Back then the sound track was not "attached" to the film. Instead the films were shipped with sheet music for a pianist to play in the theater. So the sound we are hearing was either played by youtube employs and they attempted to make it sound aged or it was added to the film at some other point probably in the 70's if I had to guess.

I can't imagine how difficult it was to produce frame-by-frame animation in that time.
